Love affair with ghettoblasters!

Despite their potentially racist name, as a kid coming up in the 80s, I had a mad, passionate love affair with ghettoblasters.

My main love was the RX-5050 by Panasonic:

I'll never forget that Christmas!! In addition to the blaster, I got tapes of Duran Duran and Chaka Kahn.

Another early memory of ghettoblasters takes place in 1985. We were camping in Eastern Oregon and EVERY time my 16-year-old cousin walked anywhere in the campground, he blasted 'Shout' by Tears for Fears as loud as his ghettoblaster could go.
Good times!

Click here if you love ghettoblasters as much as I do!
