Go Gos live at the Oregon Zoo!!

We just got back from seeing the Go Gos live at the Oregon Zoo concerts and they were fabulous! The tickets were relatively inexpensive and it was well worth the money.

As usual with these types of things, the opening band was absolutely horrible, but it may have been a cleverly planned scheme by the Go Gos to make themselves sound better!!

Anyhow, they played all the big hits and singles (the exception being "Turn to You"), with most of the big hits being extended editions, with longer instrumental mid-sections. The audience was also treated to the longer version of Our Lips Are Sealed, which includes an additional verse. You can see this longer version below.

Another thing I thought was cool was when the band put their egos aside and performed a rocking version of Belinda Carlisle's solo hit, Mad About You, as well as Jane Weidlen's duet with Sparks, Cool Places.

The band started out with Vacation and ended in their encore with Surfing and Spying and Head Over Heels. In between, they played one newer song, Unforgiven, and almost all of their first album, Beauty and the Beat (which was released 30 years ago!!). I say almost, because they didn't get to Can't Stop The World, but they did play Skidmarks on My Heart, making it a bit of a bummer that we didn't get to hear their debut album in its entirety. Even though Can't Stop The World is a better song than Skidmarks, my gut says they played it because it was the only song on Beauty and the Beat that was partially written by Belinda.

All-in-all, an amazing concert and I look forward to Duran Duran next month at the Rose Garden Arena and OMD in October at the Wonder Ballroom.
